Artist Reception September 29, 2007 4 - 7 PM

Viridian Artists Inc. is pleased to present a solo exhibit of Ben Wohlberg in New York City. Wohlberg's exhibit, "Intuitive Synthesis," will be on view September 25 - October 20, 2007. There will be a reception for the artist Saturday, September 29, 4 - 7 pm.

The show reflects the artist's grounding in the non-representational, the experimental and the abstract. As the title suggests, his work is a synthesis of elements of the natural world that inspire him and his ongoing experimentation with color, texture and form.

Wohlberg identifies with the thinking of painter and sculptor Frank Stella on the meaning of abstraction: "The ambition of abstract art is to spark in a viewer's mind the rich constellation of feelings and associations that are produced by a confrontation with reality, not simply to reproduce a single illusory version of that reality."

Characterized by his special attention to form and color, each of Wohlberg's paintings offers the viewer great latitude in interpreting what he sees, allowing him to tap his own personal experience. The associative qualities of Wohlberg's palette and forms beckon the viewer not only to look at the painting but to feel it, experience it and make it his own.

The artist's own reverential sense of the role of abstraction is that it is a potentially powerful response to a universal truth, a form of expression without limits.
